This page lists the cookies and similar storage we use on hqsimple.com, what they do, and how to refuse them.
How we categorize cookies
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to work. These are always on and you cannot turn them off.
- Functional — power features you opt into, like the chat widget. Off by default; enabled when you consent or when you actively use the feature.
- Analytics— Google Analytics 4 loads on every page so we can see aggregate traffic patterns. The consent banner does not control GA; if you'd rather not be measured, use a browser content blocker (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, Brave Shields) or Google's official GA opt-out browser add-on. Separately, we run a small first-party page-view counter that feeds our internal dashboard. That one is opt-in and runs only when you accept cookies.
The cookies we set
| Name | Category | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
sb-* | Strictly necessary | Supabase auth — keeps admin sessions logged in. | Session |
hq_consent | Strictly necessary | Records your cookie-consent choice so we don't ask again. | 180 days |
hq_chat_anon | Functional | Anonymous identifier for the chat widget so we can show you the same conversation if you reload. | 1 year |
_ga, _ga_* | Analytics | Google Analytics 4 — measures aggregate page traffic. Pseudonymous; IP is truncated. Loads on every page; not controlled by the consent banner. See the Analytics category above for opt-out tools. | 13 months |
Your choices
When you arrive on the site, we show a banner asking you to accept or reject the optional cookies we set. You can change your choice at any time by clicking Cookie preferences in the footer, or by clearing the hq_consentcookie in your browser.
If you reject functional cookies, the chat widget will not load; you can still email us at info@hqsimple.com or use the contact form.
Rejecting cookies in our banner does not stop Google Analytics from loading. To opt out of GA specifically, install Google's GA opt-out add-on or use a browser content blocker.
Browser controls
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Refer to your browser's help pages for instructions. Note that most modern browsers block third-party cookies by default; we do not rely on third- party cookies, so this should not affect normal use of the site.
Do Not Track
Our first-party page-view counter honors the global Do Not Track (DNT) browser signal and will not record visits when DNT is on. Google Analytics does not honor DNT. Use the opt-out tools listed above if you want to disable it.
