Croatia Digital Nomad Visa
Croatia's permit is purpose-built for remote workers and excludes the holder from Croatian income tax for the duration. The catch: it's a single 12-month term. To come back, you must leave for at least six months first.
Best for
- Remote workers wanting a 12-month Adriatic base
- Travellers prioritising affordability and English fluency
- Workers ineligible for longer EU permits
Eligibility
- Non-EEA citizenship
- Remote work for non-Croatian companies, or own-business income from abroad
- Monthly income of at least €3,295 (or €39,540 in savings for 12 months), plus 10% per family member
- Health insurance valid in Croatia
- Clean criminal record
Application steps
- Apply at the Croatian embassy or in Croatia at a police station
- Submit employment, income, insurance, and accommodation evidence
- Receive permit decision in 2–3 weeks
- Register your address within 3 days of arrival
Tax considerations
Permit holders are exempt from Croatian income tax on remote-work earnings during the permit term. Home-country taxation continues to apply.

Need EOR in Croatia?
Croatia loads contributions onto the employee side, so employer cost is moderate (about 16.5%), but notice and severance escalate sharply with age. Workers over 50 and 55 get extra notice on top of tenure-based notice. EOR is the right call for senior or long-tenure hires; the DNV handles short-engagement cases well.
HQ Simple services Croatia EOR through our vetted partner network. Direct EOR sits with the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Australia.
Talk to us about EOR in CroatiaA 20-minute call usually settles it: EOR if the worker is a local resident, DNV if they keep their home employer. We'll tell you which is cleaner.
