Tax considerations
Stay under 183 days and you usually remain non-resident for tax purposes. Cross 183 days and Estonian tax residency triggers, exposing worldwide income to Estonian tax. Treaty relief is available for most home countries.
This is general information and not tax advice. Confirm with a tax advisor licensed in your home country and Estonia before triggering residency.
Need EOR in Estonia?
Estonia is unusually clean for EU payroll. Flat 33% social tax, no 13th month, no TFR-style accruals, so the DNV usually wins on cost. Move to EOR when service length pushes notice past 60 days (5+ years) or you need redundancy handled through the Unemployment Insurance Fund top-up.
HQ Simple services Estonia EOR through our vetted partner network. Direct EOR sits with the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Australia.
Talk to us about EOR in EstoniaA 20-minute call usually settles it: EOR if the worker is a local resident, DNV if they keep their home employer. We'll tell you which is cleaner.
