Eligibility
- Highly skilled status: degree or 5+ years professional experience
- Annual income of at least €28,000
- 6 months of prior remote-work experience
- Valid health insurance for Italy

Application steps
- Apply at the Italian consulate in your country of residence
- Submit qualification, income, insurance, and accommodation evidence
- Receive an entry visa, then enter Italy
- Apply for a residence permit at the local police station within 8 days
Tax considerations
Cross 183 days and you become Italian tax resident on worldwide income. Italy's impatriate regime can offer reduced taxation for new residents but eligibility tightened in 2024.
